Wisconsin-based electronics manufacturer Plexus Corporation has expanded its design centre in Livingston, Scotland, by an additional 25 per cent to meet growing customer demand.
The newly-completed expansion includes new office space to accommodate additional engineers and provide new lab space.
The new lab has a higher level assembly area, and will provide space and equipment for the mechanical team.

Arizona-based software company Lumension is to create 20 new jobs at its research and development centre in Galway, Ireland.
The company, which set up in Galway in 2009, originally planned to employ 30 people, but has now increased that figure to 50.
Lumension is mainly involved in developing security software to help businesses protect vital information.

Californian computer company Hewlett-Packard is planning to expand its research and development centre in Taiwan.
"HP has filed an application with the ministry to expand the workforce of its Taiwan R&D center to 1,000 staffers within three years from the current 600," said an official of the MOEA's Department of Industrial Technology who is in charge of the case.

New York-headquartered IT company IBM has announced the opening of a new IBM Cloud Computing Competence Center in Ehningen, Germany.
The company said that the centre will provide a broad range of cloud solutions and services to clients locally and internationally.
It will provide clients with access to IBM's portfolio of cloud computing services, including the IBM Small Business Desktop Cloud and the IBM Smart Business Desktop on the IBM Cloud.

North Carolina-based biopharmaceutical services company Quintiles has set up its first Prime Site in Asia by entering into a strategic alliance with the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) in Malaysia.
Partnering with UMMC continues the expansion of the Prime Site concept. Quintiles launched the initiative to improve trial efficiencies by establishing strong links to large clinical research institutions at a number of locations.
Having set up Prime Sites in the US, Europe and Africa, Quintiles has now turned its attention to Asia. UMMC, located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is partnering with Quintiles on the first Prime Site in Asia.
Anand Tharmaratnam, head of clinical development for Quintiles Asia Pacific, said the commitment of Malaysia’s “government, academic and private industry leaders to promoting leading-edge clinical research in the country is undeniable”.

Swedish furniture retailer IKEA has purchased a five-hectare site near the Olympic Park in east London, UK, as part of plans to expand its UK residential property business.
The Sugar House Lane site will be redeveloped with 1,500 homes as well as offices and workspace aimed at the creative industry.

France-based logistics company Norbert Dentressangle has signed several new business deals revolving around its handling centre at Heathrow Airport, UK. Established ten years ago as a perishables handling centre to serve Norbert Dentressangle's major contract with British Airways World Cargo, the facility now provides chilled storage and handling services to importers, freight forwarders and retailers of fresh food products along with an increasing number of pharmaceutical companies.

Kuwaiti logistics provider Agility has opened a new logistics centre in Korntal-Munchingen, northwest of Stuttgart, Germany.
Apart from warehousing services, the 9,000 square metre centre focuses on providing road freight to and from all major European cities as well as international sea freight and airfreight.
The facility is equipped to cater for the specific needs of the high-tech, retail and automotive industries.

Virginia-based consumer behaviour research company comScore has opened new offices in Madrid, Spain, and Portugal, offering a hybrid system of Internet audience measurement.
The new move is to facilitate "the Spanish market demand for Internet measurement", said Jaime Agullo, Chief Executive Officer of comScore Iberia.

Stream Global Services, a Massachusetts-based company that operates call centres around the world, is reported to be creating up to 400 jobs in Dublin, having won a contract with “a leading manufacturer of video game consoles.”
Recruitment has already begun for Stream’s expansion, which is expected to be formally announced with IDA Ireland in coming weeks.
Stream currently employs about 300 staff at its Santry offices on Dublin’s north side.
